2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser Temperature gauge going up when ai

I just wanted to make sure that this wasn't something super bad. Yesterday I noticed while I was on the interstate on my way home from work with my a/c on the temp was getting hotter. But when I'm on regular streets with a/c on it stays smack dab in the middle? Is this ok or what's up?

Actually, the temp should drop at highway speed and raise in town driving. Is the coolant full? Have you checked the thermostat?
