my 73 newport has a 400cid with a holley 2 bbl it runs very rough like it is getting too much fuel you can see a small amount of fuel on the carb body while it is running could something in the carb be bad or do I need to adjust the air fuel mixture; also there was a crumpled piece of cardboard where the fuel line goes into the carb I removed it should there be a filter there

These carbs had a lot of vacuum leaks and fixes for them. Chrysler came up with a brace that fit accross the top to try to squeeze the top down more. You probably need a rebuild now though due to the alcolhol that is intodays fuels. The alcolhol effects the accelerator pump as well as power valve in the carb. Te newer parts are effected by the alcolhol.
