Engine is 2.2litre, power light has been coming on lately, car sluggish to pick up speed from stop, timing belt changed about two years ago, friend told me belt could be a couple degrees off, is this possible solution to problem. Sometimes when starting engine, idles very rough and if step on accelerator nothing happens, just keeps idling rough

Hi:

It is possible to be a slight bit off when replacing the timing belt and have the car still run. And yes, it won't run the way it should. However, if you had the belt replaced and the problem is new, I doubt it's the belt.

If you hit the gas and at times nothing happens, I would think you have a sensor problem. Is the check engine light coming on? If so, have it checked for codes. Where I live, Auto Zone will do it free of charge.
