Running Hot

I have a "99" chrysler concorde, it has started to run "hot" no check engine light came on, the fans work with the ac on, but also come on when the car is starting to overheat. They do not seem to come on when they are supposed to, would this be as easy as a coolant temp sensor? It is starting to get a bit warm here and turning on the heater to cool things down is not an option anymore.

thanks

Very possible it is out of range and reading wrong. If they come on, look for any obstructions in front of the radiator (plastic bags. Etc.) Coolant full? Leaks?
