Engine Performance problem
1999 Chrysler Concorde Two Wheel Drive Automatic 135000 miles

The car has been sitting for about 4 or 5 months do to a dead batt and how difficult it is to get to it. After changeing the batt out took a while for vehical to start but after it did it sounded and ran okay. I took it out for a test drive to the local auto shop which is about 5 to 6 miles away as I turned into the shop the engine dided, I put it in nutral and it started just fine and drove fine. Upon parking the check engine light came on along with the oil light. I added a qt of oil even though the dip stick said it was fine and check the conmper to see what the check engine was for. Two codes came up with maufacter repair and the other was a speed sencer. On my way home I tried to speed up and a bunch of white smoke came out for about a 1/4 mi. As I made the turn to my road it died again. I was quick enough to put it in nutral and start it again before I could lose any speed and disrupt traffic. I added fuel and a fuel filter cleaner in case that was the problem. As I continued home from the gas station wich is a mile from my house white smoke came out on the start up and continued down the road for half mile. If I drop the peddal to the floor the engine spuuters and spits out white smoke. I dont want to take to teh shop till I have an Idea on whats wrong cos I really cant afford it. So any help would be appreceated. Also my GF says that she thinks the head gasket might be going but shes not shure and I dont see any leaking oil but I do see drip spots on the engine. Shouldnt there be soem On the ground also?

First, if I had the codes, I could be of more help there, not the desription, but the numbers. Second NEVER add oil if the stick says it's full! Too much oil will destroy an engine faster than anything else! White smoke is a sign that either the head gasket or a cracked head could be the problem, Check the coolant for signs of oil(milky brown sludge, or foaming). You can also do a compression test, and a block test. Block test cost 50.00 at the parts store and detects hydrocarbons in the antifreeze.
