Noises problem
1994 Chrysler Concorde 6 cyl Automatic 177000 miles

I took my 1994 Chrysler concorde to a mechancie yesterday becuase of noise in the front end. They came back with a $1800 repair saying, axels, sway bar, tire rod, and all bearings and joints needed to be replaced. YEA RIGHT. I immediately told the to get my car off the lift and left. I dont know much about cars, but I know if all of those items were broken my car wouldnt even move!

So I take to another mechanice today, who said it was just the right wheel bearing and sway rods. I didnt have the money to get both done at his quoted cost (400) I just got the bearings done. How long can I drive with the sway rods being loose, bad etc.

Well as long as the sway bars arent cracked or completely broken in half, and the bearings, dont come out of the housing, you should be ok for several weeks, but you must not drive the car like there is nothing wrong with it. The sway bars, keep you from rolling when taking corners and such, they also help to keep the tires on the ground along with the shocks, also being that you have a worn sway bar it is going to make more work for the other parts, possibly causing premature wear, the bearings should be ok, too. But I would try to stay in town, unless it is absolutely necessary to go on the highway and then you will need to drive cautiously, (slow lane etc.). Give yourself xtra time to stop, and take corners lightly.
