I WAS AT AN INTERSECTION AND MY CAR WOULD NOT GO FORWARD FRIEND TOLD ME I NEEDED TRASMISSION FLUID. I PUT TRANSMISSION FLUID IN AND IT RAN STRAIGHT OUT. I WAS TOLD BY AUTO REPAIR MAN THAT THE TRANSMISSION LINE WAS BUSTED AND NEEDEDTO BE REPLACED, IS THIS A SEIOUS PROBLEM AND CAN IT CAUSE DAMAGE TO MY TRANSMISSION

Yes it will damage your transmission. First off, once the engine is running, your transmission starts pumping the fluid. Without any fluid, the pump is running dry which will cause the internal parts to heat up and break down.

As it is right now, your car does not move without any fluid.
