Our chrysler 300 is stuck in park. With key turned on and the brake pedal depressed the shift lever moves to the right but not back towards R, N or D. Depressing the overide switch located in the console, I get the same result. Again, I can move the shift lever toward the right but cannot move it into any gear. Also, when it moves to the right it does not go all the way to the right; seemingly that it should go maybe a another 1/8 " to 1/4" more.

You will need to pop thetop cover of the shifter. Can you hear a click in the shifter when you press the brake pedal down? I have seen the shifter itself break and not let it out of park (all plastic mechanism). Use a flashlight to see if the assembly in the shifter is moving, if it clicks then the shifter may be broken

Then it is probably the shifter. If you depress the manual release and it still doesnt want to work it is the shifter

Is the solenoid in the shifter working? If so and it wont move still, the shifter is most likely broken, the thing is all plastic
