I have a serious problem. My car does not have illuminated brake lights. I have replaced the brake light switch, I replaced the fuses, I replaced all of the bulbs. I have a serious problem. My car does not have illuminated brake lights. I have replaced the brake light switch, I replaced the fuses, I replaced all of the bulbs. The lights even stay on when the car is turned off. The problem was resolved when I first addressed this issue on here, but now it's back, and now my brakes lights do not work. What could the problem possibly be?

The lights even stay on when the car is turned off.

Did you adjust the brake switch properly?

Thanks for the reply. Is there a certain way the brake light switch has to be positioned? Should the stem coming out of the switch be long or short upon installation?

The stem/plunger should not be depressed it should lightly be touching the brake pedal arm-do a trial and error-get a helper to observe the light

Okay. I have a brand new OEM brake light switch that I bought today, and the stem was not fully extended, should it protrude more then half an inch or is this okay. The reason I ask this is because my brake light switch doesn't stick out much.
