Chirping noise while driving

I started noticing the noise about a week ago. It is a chirping noise. It comes only when I am driving forward, not when I am backing up, not when my foot is on brake pedal, always when my foot is on accelerator. I am not sure of the direction of the noise.

This is not an easy one to armchair, but I would bet it is coming from the brakes. Could be the front or rear brakes. At 40,000 miles, you are at about the right mileage to need new brake pads.
