Transmission not going into overdrive

We have a 01 chevy venture 3.4 liter 123000 miles the transmission is changing fine but is not going into overdrive it starts making a whinning noise but when you let off the accelrator the nosie stops and when you accelerate again the noise starts back any ideas what we need to do.

Im not a transmission guy, but I would have that looked at soon. They are hydraulic units and when they begin to have problems/make noise it needs to be seen to before it causes other damage

So you don't think that flushing the transmission and changing the filter will help the problem

I have a 2001 Venture doing the same thing. What did you do? Did you have a good result?
