Stuck in park

I have a 1993 Chevy G20 van. Auto trans. When I press the brake and try to move it out of park it wont move. Is there a switch that has gone bad. When I can get it out of park everything works great. Till I put it in park again. Thanks for any help you can give me. Charlie

When you put your foot on the brake do you hear a click, it should be the neutral safety switch disengaging so you would be able to shift it. If the neutral safety switch goes bad then it will not shift out of park.
