I have a 2000 Chevy S-10 ZR2 with a 4.3 litre 6 cylinder engine. It has 107,000 miles. The service engine light came on a few days ago and I had a code reader attached yesterday. It says the problem is with the shift 1 to 2 circuit. What will correcting this entail and what will the likely cost be? Does it need to be corrected? The truck seems to run fine but I have noticed it having trouble going from drive to overdrive when going down the highway but do not know if that is related.

Sounds like shift 1 to 2 solenoid, Is youre truck, auto or manual transmission. Could just need youre tranny filter and fluid changed.

My truck has an automatic transmission. Have an appointment at the mechanic tomorrow. Perhaps should take it to the tranny shop first?
