Hello,

This issue could be due to a faulty vehicle speed sensor (VSS). It can also be for a bad stepper motor in the gauge cluster.

The VSS is located on the side of the transmission housing. It read the rotation of the transmission shaft and sends that information to the ECM. Then that gets translated into the gauge readout.
A faulty VSS will stop the speedometer from working.

If the stepper motor is faulty you will have to remove the gauge cluster to access the back of the panel.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
