How do I remove the front rotor on a 97 chevy 1500 2wd truck

Take off the tire, then the wheel hub nut located in the center, take off the caliper and pull off the rotor.

Do you know the size socket I need to get off the nut?

Not off the top of my head, normally it wont be too tight and you could loosen it by hand or a pair of pliers. Usually the nut is near 15/16ths
