Electrical problem
1997 Chevy Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 200000 miles

Both low beams do not work. When position headlight switch in-between 2 settings, lights work. Replaced headlight switch with new. Same problem. High beams work as suppose to. Running lights also work as normal. Also getting contradictory informartion about which bulbs are for running lights, low beams, and high beams. Is low beams and high beams the same bulb? Is there a relay switch?

You replaced the headlight switch, check the tan wire comming from the switch to see if it has voltage , this wire is the one that goes to the low beams. there are fuses and relays under the hood with relays for the headlights. the light green wire is for the high beams. check at the headlight itself and see if you have voltage comming to the light. See attached wiring diagram
