We replaced the starter in the truck because it was making an awful grinding noise when we tried to start it. After we put in the new starter it wouldn't even turn over. Did we miss something? Is there something else we were supposed to do besides bolt the new starter in?

Hi there,

Is it the correct starter for you vehicle? Do you have a good battery earth. Do you have 12V at the main cable? Is there 12V at solinoid wire when cranking? Sometimes there are extra terminals on the starter where the solinoid wire is, make sure that you are plugged on to the correct terminal. Are the ring gear teeth destroyed from the defective starter? If all that is OK, the starter is faulty.
