We have a 92 Lumina with 3.1 liter engine and 160, 00 miles(approx). We are currently trying to make sure it will be safe for our 16 year old daughter to drive back and forth to work. Just recently the door locks have quit working, by both the key(passenger side hasn't worked since I bought it) and by the controls inside. Any idea what would make them quit working suddenly? We have checked all teh fuses we can find and they all seem to be working fine. Thanks for any advise you can offer!

Open the driver's door.
There should be a rubber hose from the door to the body.
It contains wires.
Likely with all the opening and closing of the drivers door a wire connection the drivers door and the pass door became broke. Fatigue.
Start with a solid yellow one.
Trace and replace.
Not expensive, but a pain in the butt job to find and fix.

I disagree with the above poster, I had a two door, 92 lumina euro (car) and at one point had a similar problem.

If one of the wires was broken, you should still be able to unlock/lock the driver's door with the key.

You'll have to pull open the door, and look at the back side of the locking mechanism (if you've got a 2 door this is actually very easy, I'm not sure about 4door), just pull out the black covers on the edge of the door (behind the driver) with 4 screws, and viola!

I'd be willing to bet that there's a mechanical breakdown in the locking mechanism itself; not an electrical problem at all.
