I asked this question before but never got a real answer. I have a problem with my oil pressure. The truck sat for about 2 months and when I went to run it again this is what it does; at start up everything works fine, my oil pressure climbs to about normal levels then after 10-30 seconds the gauge drops to zero and the "check gauge" light comes on.
I have replaced both the oil pump and the sending unit. I primed the new pump through the distributer with a full quart of oil. There is also a ticking noise which seems to be from the bottom end. After all that, there is no change in behavior. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Scott Henrie

You have replaced the oil pump and oil pressure drops within 10-30secs-did you actually check the oil pressure with an oil pressure gauge?

With the noise on the bottom end its beginning to sound like engine bearings or worned crankshaft journals creating excesssive clearance dropping the oil pressure. Its the clearance between the bearing and journal that provides the oil presssure not the oil pump.

I primed the new pump through the distributer with a full quart of oil. This one I don't understand what you did here-did you put 1qt of oil thru the distributor.

You prime the oil pump thru spinning a fabricated distributor shaft with an electric drill.
