1986 Chevy Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic unknow miles

truck was worked on prior to my arrival to the schene starter was removed. I aquired new rebiult starter I am not sure which of the small posts on the solenoid to use. Vehicle is a old military chevy P.U. With 6.2 lt deisel.

How many small wires do you have other than battery/fusible link wires -you should have a purple one-the starter you got right now has an ignition bypass circuit-meaning it will apply full battery voltage to the ignition coil
