How can I tell if I am getting spark put a new engine in and will turn but will not catch

Hi, pull plug wire, stick known good plug in the boot, ground metal part of plug to engine block metal, have helper crank it, while you watch for spark at the tip of plug. Check more than one plug wire. If no spark, check that the rotor is turning. Also, check for primary voltage at the coil.
