What size socket do I need to rotate engine to find tdc on 1984 305 engine?

I forgot the socket size but this is how you do it-remove the coil wire completely remove the no.1 sparkplug use a remote starter on the starter solenoid stick your index finger in the plug hole crank the engine over in bursts till you feel pressure, stop now line up the crank pulley to TDC/0 remove the distributor cap the rotor should be pointing the no.1 cap-which is an indication that your'e dead on. To verify you can remove the valve cover and check that both valves are closed for the no.1 cylinder.
