Electrical problem
1983 Chevy Truck 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I have lights and horn. Nothing else. I shut my truck off when I got home and saw a little smoke come frome the key switch on the colum. When I turn the key again, I had nothing. The battery is fine, lights are fine, but I have no acc.'S and the not even a click when I turn the key. Is there a iginition switch in the colum and will that cause this? Also, is it easy for me to replace myself?

IGNITION SWITCH Removal (General Motors "S" Series) Remove attaching screws. Disconnect actuating rod and wiring from switch and remove switch from steering column. Installation To install, move switch slider to extreme left position and then 2 detents to the right on non key - release switches. On key release switches, move switch slider to the extreme left position. On all types, position rod in hole and install switch to steering column. Removal (All Other General Motors Models) Lower steering column, and support column to avoid causing damage. Remove lock cylinder. Pull switch-actuating rod up until there is a definite stop; then move rod down one detent to place lock in "LOCK" position. Remove 2 switch screws and switch assembly from vehicle. Installation Place lock and switch in "LOCK" position. Install actuating rod into switch, and install switch using mounting screws. Tighten, making sure not to change switch position. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
