1980 Chevy Truck timing

1980 Chevy Truck V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

when you replace the timing chain. You line the two dots on the timing gears up. Does this mean you have top dead center also or are you 180 out at this time at the distributer. I rebuilt the motor thats why im asking.

My haynes book only says NEVER put a new chain on old sprockets.

If you set the timing like this then your dist should be dead on
if you set the cam pointing up then your dist is 180 off
