1978 Chevy Truck starting problem

When I turn the key the truck wont even try to turn over at all the lights dont even dim a little bit and I have no clue whats going on

Welcome to the forum, maybe a problem with clutch switch, where applicable. Any testing, make sure the tranny is in neutral and a functional e-brake is set. If your outside/under the vehicle, testing, if the tranny is in gear and the starter cranks, it will run over you or anything else in the way.
