sounds like there is air in the powersteering pump. check fluid level... also check for bubbles in the power steering fluid. let us know the results.

I had the same problem, and it was the idler pulley. IF it happens when you hit the gas, that's it. Check your belt diagram and listen for a noise in the right side of the engine block. Have someone rev the engine while you listen.

an idler pulley is also another possibility.... remember, us techs are trying to diagnose your problems over the internet... so its much harder to say for sure without adequate information.
