When I drive my car with my air condition on and I come to a stop my car starts to hesitate like it is going to shut off but doesn't. When I shut the air off it stops doing it?

The only thing that comes to mind is to ask did the check engine lite come on. When you run the air it takes a lot out of the motor make sure air filter is not pluged and when was the last tune up you had.
