My 02 Trailblazer suddenly changed in how smooth it drives overnight meaning that now it sounds a bit like a lawn mower. When you are inside the car, lite vibrations can be felt through the floor on your feet. When you are outside of the car, it seems that the noise is coming from the exhaust pipe. I took it to a mechanic and they said there was nothing wrong with the muffler. They apparently did a back flow test. I just don't think they tried hard enough. Any ideas as to what could be wrong?

Has the check engine light come on while it is running? If so it needs to be scanned for codes. Does it feel like the engine is running rough or it feels rough when moving?

No, the check engine light has never come on. The engine was checked by the mechanic anyway and he said all was fine. I would say that the noise from the tailpipe and slight vibration are both present when the car is idling but they both get worse as the car moves. Speeds from 25 to 40 MPH is when it is the worst.

Not sure what you are feeling that does it at idle and worse at 45 when the engine isnt missing. Has the exhaust system been inspected?
