Rear Hatch and Rear Window Won't Unlock/Unlatch

When the key button is pressed you can hear a noise inside as though it is unlatching, but it does not. Pressing the button on the window makes no sound and does not open.

How do I access this area with the third row seatsw installed?

I have the same problem but on a 1996 chevy tahoe. What I did is just use the old fasion key to open the hatch and the tailgate. I don't know if the newer tahoe are equiped with a rear key insert. I think it is just the actuater that might have gone bad. I sometime hear mine click when I press the remote. If it is the actuater, it should'nt cost much, mine on my 96 tahoe is on 23.00 plus labor. Let me know if this helped.
