2003 Chevy Tahoe change engine oil light

My 2003 Tahoe has 78000 miles - I get the oil changed every 3000 miles. The last one was at 76000. The change engine oil light comes on every time I start the car. It turns off after about 30 seconds. Why is that light coming on when I only have 2000 miles on this oil change? By the way, this light has never come on before, even when I forgot to get the oil changed once for over 6000 miles. Thanks!

Turn your key to the run position, hit your gas 3 or 5 times. Turn the key off. Wait 30 seconds and start it. Im not sure if its 3 or five but you will have to try it. This will reset the light. Those lights are not right. I have a venture that I bought 2 years ago, I put 20,000 miles on it and the light finally came on. It is suppose to go by driving habits, mileage, ect.
