Front differential is growling when in 4 wheel drive. I would like information on how to change fluid and what type of fluid to use. Thank you

Basically, there is a fill plug only on this differential. You need to remove it and suck the fluid out that is in it. Replacement gear lube is a standard GL5. Fill it to the bottom of the fill hole. Fill it till it just starts to overflow from the hole.

I seem to have the same problem with my 02 tahoe. A growling sound that comes and goes - even when i'm in 2wd. (This noise is very loud). Did you ever find what was wrong?
