The gas tank makes a popping noise after turning the engine off. It sounds like the expansion of a metal can - and it can be very loud at times - I am able to hear it inside the house with the Tahoe in the driveway. Is this dangerous? Can it be fixed? Do I need to have it looked at by a professional?

I would definetely be taking it in to have it looked at.
Try removing the gas cap does this prevent the popping noise?

Hi Mark. I have the same thing happen every now and then. So far it's not been a problem, and I haven't really gotten a definitive answer as to what it could be.

Areyou sure its the gas tank, the mufflers on these vehicles have this concern. For that noise you need to replace the clamp, call your local dealer for this concern, they have the fix for it.
