1998 Chevy Tahoe low rumble/vibration

Hi.
I'm experiencing a low rumble that occurs around 40-45 mph and returns at 65 plus. No wheel shake whatsoever. Feel it in more in the seat. Had all tires checked and rebalanced and replaced U joints. No change. There seems to be moderate vibration accompanying the rumble but not intrusive.
The noise is almost as if I'm drivng over grooved pavement but with barely noticeable vibration.
What next should I be looking at? Thanks

98 Chevy Tahoe 4 wheel drive 2 door. Occurs in both 2 and all wheel settings.

It sounds like an axle bearing or pinion bearing is beginning to fail. Front axle bearings must be replaced as a unit -- this unit is the entire hub assembly including the ABS wheel sensors if has them. Rear axle bearings require the removal of the axle shafts. Pinion bearings either in the front or rear can be checked by simpley disconnecting the applicable drive shaft and pushing up and down checking for any movement. If there is any movement at all - the pinion bearings are probably to blame. If replacing pinion bearings it is wise to replace the bearing races also -- and DO NOT forget to install a new crush sleeve. Keep us informed on what you find.
