CHEVROLET 1500 4WD SUBURBAN 350 VORTEC ENGINE BLEW OIL FILTER GASKET AND OIL OUT OF ENGINE. OIL PRESSURE WAS READING OVER 80. WAS NOT KNOCKING OR RUNNING HOT. REPLACED OIL FILTER AND OIL. FINALLY GOT IT STARTED AFTER IS SAT A COUPLE OF DAYS. HOWEVER THE OIL PRESSURE IS STILL OVER 80.

CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT CAUSED THIS AND HOW TO FIX IT.

THANKS

The maximum allowable pressure level is 60 psi, the oil pressure overcomes the spring pressure and allow the valve to open.
The oil pump pressure- relief valve need to be checked, it's may be stuck open.
To inspect or service the valve, you need to disasemble the lower part of the engine to gain access to the pump.
