5.3L Engine w/ 98,400 miles - How do I adjust my emergency brakes? My emergency brakes have no effect. All cables are good. The in-line cable adjustment (a single to double cable 'T' section) is adjusted to its maximum point. The cable is slightly pulling on on the rear wheel levers when the emergency pedal is fully depressed. There appears to be sufficient pad remaining (rear disc brakes). Must I change the pads? My CD service manual does not cover this area very well.

The emergency brakes are under the rear rotors. You must take the rear rotors off to access them. They can be adjusted at that time, but you will probably find they need replacing. Hopefully you won't need to replace the rotors. This is a common problem on Chevy's 2000-2006, because these emer. Brakes are simply supposed to "assist park". They are weak compared to what we are used to seeing as emer. Brakes, so it is easy to drive with the emer. Brake applied and not know it. Good luck.
