We found this suburban and we want to buy it, but it is making a winding noise. The noise is about the same as the sound a car makes while driving in 4 wheel drive. However, you can hear it while in idle and when the engine is reved.

Best to have a used car checked out by a technician. It can save money and aggrivation.

Anyone can tell you to have mechanic check out the vehicle so I am sure telling you that is no help. It may be the clutch fan not disengaging. They will making a whining noise sometimes. With the engine off check to see if you can turn the fan with little effort or if it is really hard. You may also want to make sure that it doesnt wobble or feel loose. It could be what you are hearing but without being able to check it out in person it can be hard to diagnose
