We have the push button 2wd/a4wed/4wd hi/4wd low

When you push the auto 4wd button the truck will drive and use 4wd as needed. The truck will automatically disengage the a4wd and engage 4wdhi on its own. Ok, this truck is new to us. I am use to the older 4wd. But this seemed odd. Shouldn't it stay in auto?

What should I look for if there is a problem.

Thanks,

Matt

Do all other functions work properly? 4Low, 4 HI when selected? Any of the indicator lights blinking? Any warning lights in the dash? Im thinking this may be normal, it may be auto selecting the range it needs to be in for the loss of traction/engine rpm/vehicle speed

Yes everything seems to fine visually and function fine. All other 2wd/4wd hi/4wd low work and hold in gear. The 4wd auto just stays in for a bit and then will toggle over to the 4wd hi. Lights don't flash, they just turn off on the 4wdauto and turn on the 4wd hi light. And it shifts the transfer case. Just like if you pushed the 4whi button. My wife thought one of my boys did it while she was driving. The last couple times they have been in back.

That would probably be the best thing to do. Thanks

This is why I like my old M37 Dodge, manually shift the old beast in. No computer no auto 4wd. Simple, oh well those days are gone.
