Maybe the bulb is just burned out? I worked on an 89 sub one time, the mil wouldn't work on that one either. I used a scanner that shows live engine data at the datalink connector, worked just fine. I'm not sure how hard it is to get at the bulb, usually working on dashes, I always break something.

I believe they put that bulb in and then built a car around it. It is a lot of work to get to the bulb. It wasn't even burnt out. I just pushed on it and it came on. Even better I started the car and it went off. Thanks guys, you gave me the confidence to even try. Cowboy 63

Yeah, I've seen the same thing. 80 model camaro, no excite voltage to alternator, the charge lite didn't work. I didn't want to get into the dash, but I did. Turned out the charge lite bulb had just vibrated loose over the years, I just pushed it back in. Everything worked ok, charging again.

Good job
