I am having trouble with my 2003 silverado. When I push the brake pedal the rear lights dont come on but the brake light above the back glass by the cargo light does. We have had the fuses checked and plugs checked but we cant establish what is causing this problem

OK, IF THE BULBS ARE KNOWN GOOD, CHECK ALL FUSES, THERE ARE SOME UNDER THE HOOD FOR THE TRAILER LIGHTS, BUT IF ALL CHECKS OUT, YOU HAVE A THIRD LIGHT AND IT OPERATES SO THAT IS LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS A BAD GROUND OR HOT WIRE SHORTED, THERE IS PRETTY MUCH ONE WIRE THAT CONTROLS EVERYTHING, PULL BOTH REAR BULB SOCKETS OUT WHERE YOU CAN GET TO THEM AND CHECK THE WIRES TO THE SOCKET, YOU WILL FIND ONE BROWN WIRE ON EACH, THIS IS THE KEY WIRE, IT GOES UP THE TRUCK SOMETIMES LEFT SOMETIMES RIGHT SIDE TO A JUNCTION BLOCK FOR THE REAR LIGHTS CHECK THE BROWN FOR POWER IN AND OUT OF THE JUNCTION BLOCK AND LET ME KNWO WHAT HAPPENS, OH AND MAKE SURE THE HARNESS FOR YOU TRAILER ISN'T SHORTING
CHECK POWER THERE
