My 2002 Silverado V-8 has a slight lifter tap upon startup if the truck has been off for over 3 or 4 hours. The noise is gone after idling for around 20 seconds. Oil pressure gauge show 40+ pounds. At no other time does the noise reoccurr.

Make sure that the oil filter you use has an anti flowback valve. Also, there is a chance you have a lifter that is going bad and taking a while to pump up.

I fixed this problem on my truck by changing the Oil Pump Inlet Tube O-Ring. The lifters are the first part that don't get enough oil after this o-ring breaks down. All Chevrolet mid 2000s era 5.3L O-Ring fails around 150-190K.
