2002 Chevy Silverado heater does not work properly

My heater does get hot it only gets hot when the setting on temperture control is in the floor and floor defrost position it does not blow heat in the up position and down postion and it only blows heat in no. 3 and 4 position fan control switch knob it is all messed up please help.

I am not real sure how the chevy system works, but it SOUNDS like the control head is the problem. I don't know if it uses vacuum or not, but check for colored vacuum lines routed under the dash. Follow them and see if any are pinched or broken. Post back your findings and we'll go from there.

Step 1 - A heater cannot operate unless the engine is full of coolant/antifreeze. If coolant level is low check the system for leaks.
