I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 4x4 with the 5.3 liter V8 and 65000 miles. I recently bought the truck and did an oil change. While I was under the front end I decided to grease the zerks. Shortly after I noticed a rubbing noise when turning at slower speeds, almost as if the power steering fluid was low, but it was not. I had a 2002 truck almost identical to this one before, and I experienced the same problem only after I started greasing the zerks. My question is, if there are different kinds of grease, maybe I am using the wrong one, or if Chevy uses a special kind to lube their vehicles. What could be going wrong?

No, they dont use any special kind of grease that could cause this problem. Does it make the noise the same on right and left turns? Does the p/s fluid smell or look burnt? (Dark in color) if so you may want to flush the p/s system and use fresh fluid

It makes the noise pretty much the same left and right, but seems to be more obvious and common when turning left. I will check the steering fluid, and maybe flush the system. Thanks for the help.
