A check of the scanner after a "Check Engine" light came on reveals that I have a bad EBCM. I took the truck to a general mechanic shop that I use; my trusted mechanic told me this is not a repair he can make as his insurance doesn't allow ABS repairs and he's not qualified to do the repair.

What does changing this module involve, is it something that I can do myself (I've been working on cars my entire life. I'm 52 next week), or if not, is it something I HAVE to take to a dealer?

I work in the San Gabriel Valley town of Baldwin Park (near Los Angeles), so a local shop referral would be appreciated if possible.

Changing the ebcm is somewhat easy, after you change it you need to perform an automated bleed with a tech 2 scan tool to bleed ALL the air out of the ebcm, if you dont you will never get a brake pedal. The ebcm is under the drivers side door attached to the frame. You can take the vehicle to any shop but they dont always have the equipment to fix these problems, I personally would take it to the dealer. BTW what was the abs code?
