1998 Chevy Silverado lights dimming when breaking

when I step on the break the interior and dashboard lights dim. I have already cleaned battery cables with no success.

Welcome to the forum, check the charging system. You can also do a voltage drop test. An example, Test headlamp voltage at the front end of circuit, then check at the headlamp itself.

found the problem. the the trailer hitch electrical connection was wet so it was shorting out the lights. dried it with a hair dryier and the problem went away. thanks for you help.
