I took my 1998 Silverado 2WD to have an alignment done. But was told I need to remove a tab to have it properly aligned @ 120.00. Could you please explain what tab or item needs to be removed to get a correct alignment. Thank you

They are most likely refering to a sheet metal tab that was partially punched at the factory. By leaving the tab in place allows the factory to do a "NET BUILD", that means they just bolt in the front suspension components and with the tab in place the correct wheel alignment is achieved. If the wheel alignment needs to be adjusted, the tab needs to be removed to allow movement of the components. I can't comment on the charge since I have never had to remove a tab but special tools do exist for this job and quite possibly the tab could be removed by someone in their home garage. I will say that the charge SEEMS high.

You can remove the tabs with a screwdriver. It takes about 2 minutes. This should be part of the standard alignment, and you should not pay extra for it.
