How much Horsepower do I have

I was just curious how much horsepower my truck has with it being stock. It's a 97 Chevy Silverado K1500 4x4 automatic 5.7L V8 extended cab. Or if you could point me to a website that has a listing of older automobiles and their horsepower ratings. Thanks!

Believe that is the Vortec 350, rated at 260 hp if memory serves me well. I had a '96 with that engine, it was a great engine, still ran like new with 108,000 miles, was well maintained though.

Yeah it's the Vortec 350. I just wasnt sure how much horsepower it was putting out. Thanks for the reply though. I'll be sure to give you some positive feedback! Thanks!

No problem, despite the 'modest' hp rating, this is still a great engine. I towed an '89 Trans Am on a trailer from Indiana to Minneapolis without a hitch.
No oil cooler, original clutch on a 5-speed, but careful driving. The engine had more than enough power, and still gave me some very respectable gas mileage, if memory serves me well.

The same engine is in my 96 silverado. I now have 290,000 miles on it with never being rebuilt and runs with plenty of power still with even a load of hay behind it.

Wish I still had my old truck, even if it was rusty.
Could use it now and then for sure, and it was simple enough so that I could still turn a wrench on it for most repairs and maintenance.
