I have a 93 silverado that runs but dies. I was told that it was my distributor but it wasn't by a mechanic. I thought it might be my alternator but before I bought anything I thought I would ask you.

Hello, Are there any codes? Your obd1, you should be able to check codes yourself, see if anything shows up.

How long since a tune-up? Can you check fuel pressure?

There should be a datalink connector under your dash, you use a jumper between the A & B terminals, turn the key on, no crank, the (check engine lite) goes to flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. OBD stands for ( On Board Diagnostics).

With tBI fuel injection, you can see the fuel injectors spray gas, with the engine cranking. To check fuel pressure, you tee a gage into the supply line.
