When I start my truck it runs for 3 seconds and cuts off. I just got it and has a new egr, fuel filter, fuel lines, plugs and wires, hoses, timing chain, belts. When the guy brung it to the house he said the guy who towed it there flooded the engine so I replaced the plugs.I know it is something simple but I dont know what?I even read the engine code and that says normal. Could this be an electrical problem? It is tbi.

Sounds like a bad fuel pump to me.

But first hook up a noid light to the injectors and see if it flashes when the engine is cranking, if it does then start it and when it dies out if it stops flashing and then the engine dies its electrical.

If it keeps flashing then check to see if they stop spraying fuel then it dies out, if thats the case your not getting fuel to the injectors due to a bad pump.

My father had a problem like tha wit hhis 1995 gmc and a guy told him that it might be the catalitic converter and it was I can, t spell good but I think you understand any way they plug up or they fall apart and plug up if you take the o2 sensors out that will give it a little flow and if it stays running probaly rough then you will know

I dont feel a plugged convertor will cause the vehicle to die out in 3 seconds though. Maybe after a while of driving the increased pressure can cause it to konk out.
