It could be the IAC (Idle air control valve), throttle sensor, MAP sensor, or an Air flow sensor. Did u put the engine code scanner to it? If not, then do so, it should pretty much point you to the problem.

What is meant by wide open? High idle speed? You noticed the air intake was open fully?
