I have a 2002 chevy S-10 that has 223,000 miles with a 4.3 and was wondering if you could answer a question about cell service.Whenever I am in my truck driving we get no service. When we are just idling my service comes in but as soon as we start moving I get no Nextel service...this doesn't affect any other brand of cell phone...only nextel phones. Not just my phone either...anyone in my truck with a nextel does not get service. We replaced the alternator with an aftermarket one and it cleared up for a short time. However it has started again and I really don't want to keep replacing alternators. We are on the third one... We have contacted nextel and they have no idea why.Any suggestions?

Your truck is trying to tell you to get a new cell provider!

Actually, are your windows tinted? Certain window tints can cause these types of issues.

i've got a '96 s-10 with very dark tinted windows, and my phone, as well as everyone else's work just fine. I think it's your service provider. You should switch to Alltel if it's in your area. Although I'm a salesman for Alltel so I may be a little biased on that one.

I agree with the first person up there, it depends on the type of tinting you have in your truck. Some tints have certain metal threading throughout them, and this can sometimes affect phones and other electronic devices.
